| Dave grew up in Colorado where he gained a profound respect and admiration for the mountains and wilderness places. He was introduced to SAR and wilderness medicine at an early age and moved to Oregon in 1991 to pursue a career as a Wilderness Paramedic. David previously worked as a paramedic in Portland, Oregon, for over 14 years in both urban and rural settings, most recently as the AMR Special Programs Coordinator, responsible for the management and training of the Reach and Treat Team, Wildfire Response Team, and the River Rescue Team. Dave has experience teaching rescue courses such as high angle, swiftwater, alpine, and remote medicine for many years. Dave has been deployed to wildfire incidents and disaster responses throughout the region, as well as being deployed to the City of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. When not working Dave enjoys climbing, snowboarding, motorcross and spending time in the outdoors with his two children, Eric and Allison. |
