|
| |
| Dee has been working in remote field locations, primarily nearshore and offshore, since 1991 as a marine mammal biologist. She is currently a fishery biologist with NOAA's Alaska Fisheries Science Center at the National Marine Mammal Laboratory in Seattle, WA, and a research collaborator with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, where she worked for several years. As an instructor with Remote Medical International's Training Group, Dee brings her passion for educating diverse audiences and her drive for preparing individuals to safely venture into any environment, whether for work or play. Dee received her EMT certification in 2004 and volunteered with the Arlington County Fire Department as a firefighter-recruit and EMT from 2005-2007. Dee earned her Master of Science degree in Biology from The George Washington University, and she currently holds WEMT, NREMT-B, EMT-B (Virginia), and MPIC certifications. When not teaching or thinking about whales, Dee enjoys spending time hiking trails, educating, running long-distances (preferably on natural surfaces), and messing about in boats, most often with her dog, Max. |
