Mitch Kadlec lives in Winthrop, Washington, and works as a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service, on the Okanogan/Wenatchee National Forest. Through his career he has traveled to many parts of the country, and many regions in the backcountry working on interagency hotshot crews, initial attack fire crews, and also as a helicopter rappeller, specializing in suppression of fires in remote or inaccessible regions requiring aerial delivery of firefighters. Mitch also works as an EMT with Aero Methow Rescue Service, and Okanogan Co. Search and Rescue, which handles the recreational areas of the Methow Valley, and the North Cascades. Mitch is a fully qualified incident commander with numerous firefighting qualifications. He's certified in swift water rescue, a nationally registered EMT-B, WA state EMT-B, USCG Medical Person In Charge, and a Wilderness EMT. In his free time you could find him skiing, fly fishing, or running trails in the Methow, but most likely you'll find him working on building his house.
