How does CELOX® work to control massive bleeding?
CELOX is poured into the wound and held down with gauze for three minutes
A compression bandage is then wrapped over the gauze covered wound and the patient is transported
A clot forms at the site of the injured blood vessel within minutes after pouring the powder into the wound - the average time for bleeding control was 37 seconds!
The granules transform into a gelled clot. The gelled clot is easy to remove after the bleeding has stopped.
