Allows the friction to be varied during descent according to the weight of the rope and/or the load. The number of bars in use may be easily increased or decreased during a descent to obtain the desired amount of friction. Good distribution of friction and heat helps protect the rope. For use with 1 or 2 ropes, diameters from 9 to 13 mm.
