Product information for Wilderness Advanced First Aid (with CPR)
Sponsored by Above & Beyond Alaska, Wilderness Advanced First Aid is a 40-hour course designed to provide elementary skills in remote care. Based on recommendations from the Wilderness Medical Society and evidence-based research, our curriculum focuses on making sound decisions regarding patient evacuation, as well as skills for extended care. This course is a hands-on, experiential format, providing students with the skills and confidence for making remote medical care decisions.
Wilderness Advanced First Aid is ideal for guides and trip leaders, outdoor recreation enthusiasts, camp staff, remote site workers, and travelers who either work or play away from definitive medical services and support. The Wilderness Advanced First Aid goes beyond the standard Wilderness First Aid course with coverage of long term care and more in depth recognition and treatment of common injuries.
Additionally, this course will focus on injuries and illnesses common to the climate and terrain of Southeast Alaska and includes certification in American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR.
