Students gather for an outdoor lecture during the January Wilderness First Responder Course. We’ve scheduled two more Wilderness First Responder (WFR) courses for 2011! Our decision to continue hosting courses at the Presidio was made easy by the overwhelmingly positive comments we got from both instructors and students. I asked Phong Duong, the lead instructor for the January WFR about his overall experience: “Great!” he said, “The diversity of students was amazing. We had ages of 19-50. We had a motivational speaker and life coach, guides, a lawyer, EP guys, and recreationalists. A ski instructor from Squaw took the class in San Francisco because none were available in Tahoe.”

The Presidio as a host location has far exceeded our expectations. Phong again: “The location was amazing. The classroom was large and there was a massive grassy field directly across the street perfect for running scenarios. The post-class activities were limitless! There’s a café for lunch and coffee a 10 minute walk away, and the ocean nearby for walks during breaks.”

It’s not just the instructors who had a blast; we continue to hear great things about our WFR program from our students. One of our January San Francisco students wrote, “The instructors were top notch and very professional. I am excited and looking forward to attending future courses with RMI!”

But don’t take my word for it. Join us for a Wilderness First Responder course May 25th– June 3rd or October 17th– 26th at Planet Granite in the Presidio and see for yourself why students from Remote Medical International feel confident in their ability to manage medical emergencies when the hospital is not an option.
