On 12 April, Overland International CEO Scott Brady announced that he would lead a team of adventurers on a two-year overland expedition through all seven continents. Expeditions 7 began the first leg of their journey two weeks later in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska—the northernmost road in North America.

While the mission may be simple (“…to see and experience the world”), Expeditions 7’s route tackles 30,000 miles of the world’s most complex and isolated terrain with voyages across the remote northern latitude and western longitudes.

Expeditions 7 is relying heavily on 2 specially modified Toyota 70 Series Land Cruisers, but the team understands that they’ll need more than suspension systems and recovery winches to stay safe along the way.

“Exploration to all climate zones and dozens of countries results in an expansive list of travel medical considerations, from custom medical kits to prescription medications to telemedicine,” said Brady.

In preparation for the journey, Brady contacted Remote Medical International® for access to 24-7 telemedicine services. With RMI’s support, Expeditions 7 can count on evacuation coordination services and direct access to emergency physicians specializing in remote and tele-medical care.

“Remote Medical International® has proven their expertise and competencies in all of the global environments we will encounter,” said Brady. “As an expedition leader, Remote Medical’s experience and reputation made the choice of employing their services easy.”

With RMI’s Remote Response Kit in tow, Expeditions 7 arrived to Cape Spear, Newfoundland on May 29, marking the completion of Segment One: North America.

“The North American segment has been a wonderful and rewarding primer to the adventure, allowing us to test the vehicles and equipment and prepare the team for the challenges to come,” said Brady.

Expeditions 7’s next challenge began in Iceland on 14 June. After completing a partial circumnavigation of the “Land of Fire and Ice,” the adventurers will then head to the northernmost vehicle-route accessible point in the world, NordKapp. From there, Expeditions 7 will navigate nine European countries in order to finish Segment Two.

As always, Brady says he is excited for the next phase of the journey. Keep track of Expeditions 7 on Twitter.
