Recently, the Remote Medical International (RMI) Kandahar Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) Team was honored with a NATO award for “exceptional leadership in support of the overall medical mission to Afghanistan.”

The Remote Medical team provides medical services to the civilian population at Kandahar Airfield (KAF) and the surrounding forward operating bases in Afghanistan. The clinic provides primary, emergency, and occupational health care such as Periodic Health Assessments, on-call care, and radiology and laboratory services.  The military mission of KAF is a part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which is a NATO-led security mission.

Presented as a surprise during a US Navy Change of Command (CoC) ceremony, the award was commissioned by the outgoing captain who had a Lieutenant, a surgeon, paint a beautiful watercolor of the clinic which Remote Medical International staffs.

The Captain stated that this award  was, “For exceptional leadership in support of the overall medical mission to Afghanistan,” and for “Remote Medical International’s continued support and proactive contributions to the KAF medical response.”
