Hybrid Wilderness First Responder Description

The Hybrid Wilderness First Responder certification is a combination online and onsite course that requires approximately 20-30 hours of pre-course instruction in an online learning environment and five days of coursework at the Shannon Point Marine Center in Anacortes, WA.

Wilderness First Responder certification is considered the standard medical certification for guides, trip leaders, outdoor educators, and anyone working or playing in remote areas. RMI’s Hybrid Wilderness First Responder emphasizes decision-making, hands-on skills, and the theoretical knowledge necessary to function in remote areas. This training also provides a strong foundation for students to progress on to more advanced levels of training.

Our curriculum is developed based on the collective experience of our remote-area paramedics and defined best practices. CPR for the Healthcare Provider is included in the course. Please note that food and lodging are not provided for Hybrid WFR courses.

Onsite lodging is available for an additional cost. Spots are limited. For more information about onsite lodging or to purchase onsite lodging, please contact us at (206) 686-4878.

This course will be held at:
Shannon Point Marine Center
1900 Shannon Point Rd.

As a recent graduate of the Hybrid Wilderness First Responder course, I feel infinitely more capable for emergencies in both urban and remote environments. Completing the course with my fellow students was an amazing experience I will never forget. Not only did I learn invaluable skills that may one day serve me in a serious situation, but I had the opportunity to work with incredible instructors, as well as my fellow students, who truly blew me away. I left the course with a new respect for remote medicine. Next stop: EMT certification!

This class was amazing and easily the best money I’ve ever spent on myself. The facility was awesome and had acres and acres of woods that we got to use for scenarios. The instructors completely made the class for me. We had a former military medic and an urban medic teaching. I had no background in medicine before this class but the two of them got me completely hooked!
