As summer turns to fall, it’s no secret that some cities fare better than others. The office staff at our Seattle headquarters will be the first to admit that winter in the Pacific Northwest can be a long and dreary haul. As much as we love the Emerald City, it’s tough not to envy our students enrolled in wilderness medicine courses in sunnier or snowier locations like Sun Valley and Silverton.

For those of you looking to get your Wilderness First Responder (WFR) before ski season starts, there couldn’t be a more ideal time or location than our November 9-18 courses in Sun Valley, Idaho and Silverton, Colorado. Both trainings are held in the heart of some of the nation’s best skis areas. Students with a little extra time to spare can tack on a few days (snow permitting) before or after the WFR to ski or snowboard in Sun Valley or at Silverton’s Kendall Mountain.

Those looking for a more urban change of scenery can check out our October 12-21 WFR in San Francisco. Fall is considered by many to be San Francisco’s best season with warm and sunny days, little to no rain, and a break from the fog. Our San Francisco WFRs are always held at the Planet Granite climbing gym in the Presidio by the Golden Gate Bridge. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to visit the City by the Bay – the time is now, and it’s never too early to start making fall and winter plans!

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions about our courses. We’re looking forward to seeing you this fall!
